    Quality & Regulatory Compliance Coordinator

    We are currently looking to fill a Quality & Regulatory Compliance Coordinator position for our Langley, BC location. The position is responsible for ensuring that the FSEP program, SQF 2000 System and customer specific requirements are current, properly implemented and maintained. The Quality and Regulatory Compliance Coordinator is expected to participate in special projects and provide vacation coverage for other QA personnel. The Quality and Regulatory Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for promoting and implementing food safety and quality procedures in accordance to customer and regulatory requirements.     On Friday MSFHR opened applications for the MSFHR Health Policy Fellowship (
    http://www.msfhr.org/news/msfhr-news/applications-open-msfhr-health-policy-fellowship), a salary award for post-doctoral level health researchers who want to contribute their research expertise to the health policy development process at the provincial government or health authority level.

    Successful applicants will undertake short-term (up to 12 month) policy assignments within the BC Ministry of Health or at one of the province's health authorities. There are currently six assignments available which address BC health system priorities including substance abuse services, promoting indigenous health and primary care home best practice.

The program also creates market access by identifying and working to resolve international trade barriers by product and by country which have a direct adverse affect on the trade or potential for trade of Oregon agricultural products; works to retain and expand existing agricultural businesses as well as recruit new business to the state; and acts as a liaison with the state's 23 commodity commissions who are charged with research, promotion, and education for their specific commodity.

    Hello all,

    Dr. Xiaonan Lu’s Food Safety Laboratory at UBC invites applications for 1-2 Postdoctoral Fellowship positions, with an anticipated start date of May 1st, 2017. The position is located in the Food, Nutrition and Health (FNH) program in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems (Vancouver campus) (www.foodsafetyengineering.landfood.ubc.ca). The successful candidate will execute basic research exploring fundamental stress responses of leading foodborne
    pathogens (e.g., E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, Campylobacter jejuni), bacterial typing, and the roles of new/unknown genetic elements identified through genome sequencing. The candidate will work closely with Dr. Xiaonan Lu (Professor in Food Science) and graduate students, and will be involved in collaborative work with different research laboratories on UBC Vancouver campus. The appointment will be for 1 year with the possibility of extension for two additional years.

    The Health Protection Branch safeguards the population from potential health threats by developing legislative and regulatory requirements for the prevention and reduction of risk of harm, including those from emerging pathogens and environmental contaminants. The Branch assesses public health risks and develops policy and strategies to minimize those risks, particularly in the areas of food safety and air and water quality.

    The Senior Food Safety Specialist is a recognized expert in the area of food science/technology encompassing the specialized areas of food safety assessment and management with the ability to review and translate complex scientific research literature and recommend development of food safety risk management measures for population and public health protection in British Columbia. The work also influences initiatives at the national level, for example the development of Salmonella Enteritidis policies that influence production, processing and handling technologies that would reduce the risk of foodborne illness. This position normally functions at the Doctoral or Master’s level and is recognized by a peer group external to the public service.
